Neurodevelopmental Insights for Educators & Clinicians

A cognitive profile is a map. The job is to translate it into the right accommodation, the right goal, the right intervention dose.

    Profile-driven planning

Two children with ADHD can have opposite cognitive profiles. Always plan from the child's actual domain scores, not the diagnostic label alone.

    The 80/20 of accommodations

Extended time, chunked tasks, frequent breaks, and movement opportunities cover the majority of attention and executive challenges.

    Dose matters

Cognitive training shows transfer effects only with sufficient intensity (3–5 sessions/week, 20–30 min, 8+ weeks). Anything less is symbolic.

    Practical tips

    • Re-assess every 12 weeks — profiles change.
    • Always include parents in goal-setting; transfer happens at home.
    • Pair every accommodation with a skill-building plan so it can fade over time.
